- Kaiser Permanente intends to pause gender-affirming surgeries for patients under 19 starting August 29 due to efforts by the federal government to target providers of such care.
- Kaiser said it will continue to provide other gender-affirming treatments besides surgery to transgender adolescents.
- The health care provider cited regulatory risks and said it would work with regulators, patients, and others to find a responsible path forward.
