REASI DISTRICT, JAMMU AND KASHMIR, JUL 23 – Heavy rains caused a landslide that killed two labourers and injured another working on a construction site for a religious event near a Shiva shrine, officials said.
- On Wednesday , a heavy rain-triggered landslide struck a tent in Badora area of Mahore tehsil, Reasi district, killing two labourers and injuring one.
- Amid ongoing monsoon rains, the region has seen increased landslides and flash floods, and this tragedy follows a July 21 incident in Poonch district that killed a student.
- Jammu and Kashmir police said the landslide struck around 2:00 AM while three men slept in a construction-site tent, and civilians and police recovered the bodies as workers prepared for a religious event at the Shiv Gufa shrine.
- The injured labourer was immediately transported to Mahore Hospital where he is receiving treatment, and the district administration expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and assured all possible assistance.
- In response, authorities have issued advisories and undertaken relief efforts to manage the crisis, and necessary legal formalities have been initiated with a thorough investigation under way.
