Two children among three dead in English Channel overnight
Three migrants, including two children, died likely crushed on an overcrowded boat amid ongoing risky Channel crossings; at least 23 deaths recorded this year, authorities said.
Three people, including two children, died in a migrant boat incident in the English Channel, according to regional prosecutor Laurent Touvet.
The three victims were likely crushed at the bottom of a boat carrying 38 people, with bodies recovered around 5 a.m. local time.
Additionally, three people were reported missing in a separate incident, while a third boat carrying 115 people was rescued without reports of injuries.
Authorities blamed smuggler networks for the tragedy, noting the dangers faced by migrants, especially children, during crossings.
