PACIFIC OCEAN OFF THE COAST OF CALIFORNIA, USA, JUL 14 – The Axiom-4 crew completed 18 days aboard the ISS, conducting over 60 experiments from 31 nations before undocking for a splashdown off California's coast.
- On July 14, 2025, the Axiom-4 crew, including pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, undocked from the ISS aboard SpaceX's Dragon capsule Grace at 7:15 a.m. ET to begin their return to Earth.
- The mission followed a June 26 launch from Kennedy Space Center on a Falcon 9 rocket after delays due to technical issues and weather, extending the stay aboard the ISS by about four days.
- The four astronauts, commanded by Peggy Whitson, included first-time mission specialists Uznański-Wiśniewski of Poland and Kapu of Hungary, conducting over 60 experiments involving 31 countries.
- SpaceX stated that Dragon will perform multiple orbit-lowering burns, jettison its trunk, and autonomously splash down off California about 22.5 hours after undocking.
- This mission expands commercial access to low Earth orbit, supporting international research and enabling more countries to pursue space exploration goals.
