Thousands of criminals could be released early under government sentencing reform, Tories say
Conservatives seek to block early release for over 6,500 serious offenders amid claims that 83% of child sex offenders and 62% of rapists could benefit from Labour's reforms.

- Amid overcrowding, the review was set up after prisons became dangerously overcrowded, a problem successive governments have failed to fix, the Prison Governors' Association warned, while officials say the choice is building more prisons or continuing early releases.
