There is still no set of rules for the extraction of mineral resources in international waters. At the Council meeting of the International Seabed Authority, ISA, in Jamaica's capital, Kingston, no agreement was reached on uniform standards. The discussions are now continuing in the General Assembly of the Organization, which will continue until 25 July.
On Monday, the International Seabed Authority warned those interested in mining minerals on the high seas outside international law.
