In March 2025, the European Union (EU) launched a comprehensive defence package called “Rearmament of Europe” (later referred to as “Alert 2030”) to invest up to EUR 800 billion of public resources in the coming years. This rearmament will be financed through a fund from EUR 650 billion contributed by each of the EU member states, and EUR 150 billion in defence loans (SAFE).
