After the United States and the United Kingdom have integrated the semi-active laser guide rocket system (SAL) APKWS II for Counter-UAS tasks on board aircraft of the USAF, US Navy and RAF, it is the turn of France to have integrated such a weapon system, the Thales Aculeus LG 68 mm, with the Rafale fighters....
France has conducted tests firing low-cost anti-drone missiles from a Rafale fighter jet, joining the ranks of American fourth-generation fighters and the Eurofighter.
At the end of July, the French combat aircraft will be equipped with a first laser guided rocket capability for the anti-drone fight, notably the famous Iranian drones Shahed. Performing and especially at a lower cost, this capability will replace the air-to-air Mica missiles, very efficient but very expensive, in the anti-drone fight within the French army.
