Six months after the fall of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, the challenges remain immense, especially economic ones. But some signs of renewal are emerging, such as in Daraya, in the suburbs of Damascus. A city symbol of the peaceful revolution, Daraya was shelled, besieged, and then emptied of its inhabitants for years of civil war. Now, the inhabitants return, and a local political life begins timidly to resume.
