DN DEBATT. When children become a commodity, the rule of law must act. Sweden's international adoptions have been characterized by serious irregularities and can constitute crimes under Swedish law. Many violations have now been statute-barred, which is unreasonable in matters concerning children, identity and life-changing decisions. Moral responsibility, on the other hand, has no statute of limitations, writes criminologist Jenny Rogneby.
