- On Sunday, the Rapid Support Forces seized El-Fasher, state capital of North Darfur, gaining control of major western cities; the Darfur Joint Protection Force said RSF executed more than 2,000 civilians on 26 and 27 October.
- Besieging the city for almost 18 months, the Rapid Support Forces trapped hundreds of thousands since fighting began in April 2023, allegedly aided by money and mercenaries from the United Arab Emirates .
- The United Nations reported summary executions and warned of further ethnically-motivated atrocities, while the African Union condemned alleged war crimes on Tuesday.
- In a televised speech on Monday, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Sudan's army chief, said troops withdrew and vowed revenge against the RSF advance, while the Joint Protection Force confirmed forced withdrawal.
- Aid agencies and the United Nations accused the RSF of deliberately starving civilians, with around 260,000 people, half children, in El-Fasher lacking food or humanitarian aid.
