South Portland Middle School evacuated due to gas smell
- South Portland Middle School was evacuated this morning due to a strong propane smell detected on the premises.
- Seventh and eighth grade students were moved to Skillin School while the source of the odor was investigated.
- The building was deemed safe, and students were allowed to return by 8:45 a.m.
- Shara Dee stated that there was no issue found at the middle school after checks by the South Portland Fire Department and Unitil.
