Shein Removes Childlike Sex Dolls After French Watchdog Complaint
- On Saturday, France's DGCCRF reported Asian e-commerce giant Shein to French prosecutors and Arcom for selling 'sex dolls with a childlike appearance'.
- Le Parisien published a photo showing the dolls measuring around 80cm and holding a teddy bear alongside an explicitly sexual caption, while DGCCRF said the description makes it hard to doubt the child pornography nature.
- Responding to the report, the company said `The products in question were immediately delisted as soon as we became aware of these serious issues` and launched an internal inquiry while reviewing third-party vendors.
- At BHV Marais, the planned Shein store opening on Wednesday sparked outrage, with some top fashion brands pulling their products from the store.
- Against a backdrop of rapid recent growth, EU lawmakers have moved to scrutinize Shein, which France fined three times in 2025 for a total of 191 million, as the European Commission investigates.
