Russian Strike on Passenger Buses Kills 30 in Kramatorsk, Ukraine Says
Authorities said the strike hit civilian buses and prompted a suspension of public transport as officials accused Russia of deliberately targeting passengers.
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, a Russian glide bomb struck two passenger buses in Kramatorsk, killing at least 33 people and wounding 18, according to local authorities.
Kramatorsk serves as a vital military logistics hub within Ukraine's eastern 'fortress belt,' situated about 15 kilometers from the front line, making it a strategic target for Russian forces.
Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin ordered public transport halted in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, stating, "We have no right to risk the lives of passengers and drivers."
Filashkin accused Moscow of deliberately targeting civilians, saying, "For them, a bus with passengers is an attractive target precisely because one strike can kill as many people as possible."
The strike follows a Wednesday missile attack in Pryluky that killed 22 people, signaling an intensifying aerial war as winter approaches and Russian attacks surge across Ukraine.
