Returning holiday traffic is causing congestion on the roads in Zeeland on Sunday, the ANWB reports. There are traffic jams on the N59, the N289 and the A58.
It is busy on the motorways and N-roads in the Netherlands on Sunday. According to the ANWB, there were 279 kilometres of traffic jams on these roads shortly after 14:00. The cause is mainly returning holiday traffic. But roadworks, border controls and accidents are also affecting traffic, reports an ANWB spokesperson.
The last day of the Ascension holiday has proven to put a massive strain on the Funenske Motorway. The Danish Road Directorate has reported massive queues on several occasions, with one replacing the other. Most recently, there has been a report that traffic is congested between Vissenbjerg and Odense S in the direction of Odense.
