A former local police captain in western Pennsylvania has been charged with possessing child pornography. Retired Brighton Township officer Peter Benedict Jr. 68, of Beaver, Beaver County, is charged with 11 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and a single count of criminal use of a communication facility, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday.
