- This rescue is the first on the Canary route since August 12, when two boats with 67 people were assisted; those aboard were reported as sub‑Saharan migrants who departed from Senegal, including 10 minors, two babies, and 17 women.
- Merchant ship Teos reported a canoe with numerous people to the National Maritime Rescue Center , which mobilized Guardamar Urania and reported the rescue at 12.15 GMT.
- Spanish Maritime Rescue said 248 people, including two babies and several young children, disembarked at Arguineguín dock and underwent initial medical assessment by medical personnel.
- The broader Mediterranean route has claimed more than 30,000 lives since 2014; volunteers with RESQSHIP found bodies after rescuing some 65 people north of Libya Friday.
