Ongoing RAM Crisis Prompts Raspberry Pi's Second Price Hike in Two Months
Raspberry Pi is increasing prices by $10 to $60 for models with 2GB+ LPDDR4 RAM due to AI-driven memory shortages doubling component costs, CEO Eben Upton said.
- On 2026-02-03, Raspberry Pi CEO Eben Upton announced the company will raise prices again, marking a second hike in two months.
- Ongoing AI-driven memory shortages have hit RAM kits and SSDs hardest, while Raspberry Pi said the cost of some parts more than doubled last quarter.
- Prices will rise by set amounts, with $10 for 2GB, $15 for 4GB, $30 for 8GB and $60 for 16GB RAM configurations; the Raspberry Pi 5 16GB costs $205, and the Raspberry Pi 4 8GB and Raspberry Pi 5 8GB are $125 and $135.
- After earlier December adjustments, the latest hikes add to prior $5 to $15 increases for most Pi 4 and Pi 5 models, and a $20 jump for the Compute Module 5 16GB.
- The tiered hikes take effect soon for Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 boards with 2GB or more LPDDR4 RAM, including Compute Module 4 and 5 and Raspberry Pi 500, while certain 1GB and older models remain exempt due to LPDDR2 inventory.
