Ranabaali Trailer: Vijay Deverakonda Vows to Save His Village From British-Made Famine; Gets Playful with Rashmika Mandanna. Watch
The 3:47 trailer traces Ranabaali’s rise from birth to battle and shows famine scenes as villagers face starvation under British rule.
- On Thursday, Mythri Movie Makers released the trailer for Ranabaali, director Rahul Sankrityan's period action drama set during the Madras famine of 1876-78, depicting a Rayalaseema village's resistance against the British Empire.
- Vijay Deverakonda stars as Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a horseman protecting his village, while Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma in their first collaboration since marrying early this year, following previous work in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.
- Sankrityan spent three years developing the screenplay through 24 drafts, drawing from British gazettes at the Ballari Collectorate and local folklore. Arnold Vosloo portrays British commissioner Sir Theodore Hector, based on the historical Sir Richard Temple.
- The 3-minute-47-second trailer spans the protagonist's journey from birth outside a mystical cave to full-scale war between village and empire. Visuals contrast rural traditions with harrowing images of starvation and colonial exploitation, depicting British officials as detached and comfortable.
- Ranabaali releases worldwide on October 16, 2026, one day after Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, following the film team's recent documentary series Never Forget. Sankrityan previously directed Vijay in Taxiwaala; the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers with T-Series as presenter.
