The historians have been able to restore the tragic history of a Dutch sailor who was left on a deserted island in the early 18th century, accused of homosexuality, although such practices are far from past, same-sex relations are still a criminal offence in 64 countries around the world, reports the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans- and Intersex Association (ILGA) and the penalties range from imprisonment to the death penalty.
