- Her naval training began in Cádiz and included a tribute for two Mexican sailors who died in a collision with the Brooklyn Bridge during the voyage's final US port at Pier 88.
- The Princess stood in uniform saluting alongside fellow cadets as press and dignitaries greeted her arrival, and she will stay several days for ceremonial events including a Carnegie Hall concert.

Princess Leonor arrived on Wednesday 4 June in New York on board the school ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, thus closing five months of naval training. This voyage, similar to that made by her father when he was prince, was part of her preparation as future head of the Armed Forces. Unlike him, Leonor had no official meetings or public events in each port.
