About 300,000 years ago, a species of prehistoric man, Homo naledi, lived in southern Africa, which was much smaller than modern humans, but may have already buried its dead. Now, scientists have examined the largest such burial site known to exist and are surprised to find that it appears to contain only female bodies. The study is published in the journal Cell.
