Pornhub to Become Accessible Again for some UK Users
Aylo said Apple’s device-based checks are a stronger way to verify age and will let eligible UK iPhone and iPad users back onto Pornhub.
- On Tuesday, Pornhub owner Aylo announced that users in the United Kingdom with Apple devices can access the site again by verifying their age through the company's operating system.
- This partial U-turn follows Aylo's decision four months ago to block new United Kingdom users after traffic plunged by more than 75% following the Online Safety Act introduction.
- According to Alex Kekesi, head of community and brand at Aylo, Apple provides a "first ever device-based age verification solution for its users in the United Kingdom."
- Regulator Ofcom stated it will "carefully scrutinise these changes," while adding that responsibility to prevent children accessing explicit content "falls firmly on sites and apps."
- MacBooks remain excluded from the new access policy as the industry continues navigating Online Safety Act requirements regarding child safety protections.
