IDF thwarts drone attempting to smuggle weapons from Egypt

Security forces thwarted on Thursday a drone that attempted to smuggle weapons from Egypt into Israeli territo

The Israeli Army has announced this Friday the seizure of a shipment of weapons during an attempt to infiltrate a drone across the border with Egypt, without the authorities of the African country having ruled for now on the incident.

A drone identified as an attempt to smuggle weapons and ammunition was foiled in the Paran Brigade area in the Negev. The drone, apparently attempting to cross from Egyptian territory into Israeli territory, was shot down by IDF forces operating in the area.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Police announced in a joint statement that their troops broke up last night an attempt to smuggle nine assault rifles into Israel from Egypt by means of a drone. The drone was detected as it crossed the border from the neighbouring Arab country and shot down by police officers and soldiers deployed in the area. Paran Brigade fighters, a South Coast Guard anti-aircraft unit, and Border Guard forces identified a drone that was attempting to smuggle weapons from Egyptian territory into Israeli territory. The forces were able to thwart the smuggling and seized nine weapons and a drone.

IDF & Israel Police Thwart Weapon Smuggling from Egypt

The confiscated weapons and drone have been handed over to Israel Police for forensic analysis. Israel remains steadfast in protecting its borders and preventing illicit arms trafficking.
