Papenhuyzen leaves Melbourne immediately
- On Wednesday, Ryan Papenhuyzen met Storm part-owner and chair Matt Tripp to request an immediate release from the final year of his $1m a year Melbourne Storm contract, which was granted.
- He has been heavily linked with R360 as injuries and a denied try earlier this month factored into Ryan Papenhuyzen's decision to consider his future, his agent Clinton Schifcofske admitted talks last month.
- Despite injuries in 2025, Ryan Papenhuyzen averaged 127 metres a game and posted career-highs of 85 tackle busts and 20 offloads.
- Melbourne Storm could pursue targets like Jaxon Purdue from North Queensland, as releasing Papenhuyzen frees up around $1.5m and over 160 players become free to negotiate from November 1.
- Now Papenhuyzen can sign with another NRL club next year, while R360 reportedly offered $1.5m amid a 10-year NRL ban threat and organisers seek 5-10 major signings next month.
