Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Saudi Arabia at UN, Condemns Houthi Attacks
Pakistan said the missiles were intercepted and urged dialogue and restraint as it backed Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial integrity.
On Monday, Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, strongly condemned Houthi ballistic missile attacks on Saudi Arabia during an emergency United Nations Security Council briefing on Yemen.
The missile strikes followed accusations by the Houthi movement that Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes against Sanaa International Airport. The Yemeni government claimed the runway was targeted to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing, prompting retaliation.
Islamabad also condemned the detention of United Nations personnel and diplomatic staff by the Houthis. Jadoon stated, "These actions contravene international law and undermine humanitarian work," while calling for immediate release of all detained individuals.
Reaffirming the "Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement" signed in Riyadh in September 2025, Jadoon stated, "We express our full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom and reaffirm our steadfast support for its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."
Jadoon emphasized that peace requires a "Yemeni-led and Yemeni-owned political process," urging all parties to "build on this momentum and continue engaging constructively towards a durable nationwide ceasefire." Pakistan pledged continued support for regional stability.
