WASHINGTON — As the Atlantic hurricane season (June 1-November 30) begins, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is urging countries to review emergency plans and activate preventive measures to prepare health systems for possible hurricanes, storms, floods and other extreme weather events. The call follows a forecast by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicting above-average hurricane activity this season.
