Parliament to Discuss Pahalgam Attack, Operation Sindoor Next Week: Kiren Rijiju
INDIAN PARLIAMENT, JUL 25 – Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack will be debated for 16 hours each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha despite opposition disruptions, government officials said.
- On July 28, the Lok Sabha will hold a special debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, following opposition agreement for sessions in both houses.
- On April 22, terrorists linked to Pakistan killed 26 civilians, mostly tourists, in Pahalgam, and India retaliated under Operation Sindoor in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan.
- Since July 21, both houses have endured repeated adjournments, including a Friday well protest that halted Lok Sabha, prompting Kiren Rijiju to blame the Opposition.
- Sources said Amit Shah and S. Jaishankar will speak in the Lok Sabha debate, which Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to open, with sixteen hours in both Houses.
- Kiren Rijiju said he hopes the Opposition will allow Parliament to function from next week, noting wasted resources on Question Hours and that sessions should run smoothly starting Monday.
