Packers' offensive line dealt blow as starting center is placed on IR

On Tuesday, Green Bay Packers center Elgton Jenkins fractured a bone in his lower left leg and was placed on injured reserve.
During Monday night at Lambeau Field, Elgton Jenkins was injured with 38 seconds left in the first half when Jordan Love was sacked by Nolan Smith and both landed on Jenkins; Jenkins limped off and was carted to the locker room shortly thereafter.
Elgton Jenkins, former Pro Bowl left guard, was moved to center this year after signing Aaron Banks, with 67 starts at guard and 13 at center.
Sean Rhyan is expected to step in at center and start when the Packers visit the New York Giants on Sunday, after replacing Jenkins on a night the line struggled to protect Jordan Love and open holes for Josh Jacobs' 21 carries.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday it`s highly unlikely Jenkins returns this year, and the injured reserve designation requires missing at least four games; Jenkins joins Tucker Kraft on IR after Kraft tore an ACL on Nov. 2.
