A majority of Ukrainians would strongly oppose withdrawing troops from the part of the eastern Donetsk region still controlled by Kyiv in exchange for European and U.S. security guarantees, a poll released on Friday indicated.
Ukraine refuses to step down areas it still controls in the east of Donbas.
"Of course, I would like this to end as soon as possible, but... it seems to me that this will continue for some time," a Ukrainian soldier fighting on the front lines, who gave only his name as Petro, told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) last May.
