- The incident began after a casual conversation ended and the suspect shot Officer Laupert before fleeing the scene and later found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
- The shooting occurred on the western side of Busch Gardens property near the Annie Street entrance, which was blocked off with crime scene tape, while the park remained open to guests.
