Nvidia G-Assist uses AI to configure game settings so you don’t have to

Nvidia's Project G-Assist, an AI assistant for gamers and creators, is now available through the NVIDIA app for GeForce RTX desktop users, offering an experimental version of its System Assistant feature.
G-Assist aims to simplify PC configuration, which has become increasingly complex due to the vast combinations of hardware and software settings, by providing real-time diagnostics and recommendations.
This AI assistant uses a specially tuned Small Language Model to interpret voice or text commands and interact with NVIDIA and third-party APIs to optimize game settings, improve power efficiency, control peripherals like lighting and fan speeds, and chart performance metrics such as FPS, latency, GPU utilization, and temperatures.
G-Assist, prompted by pressing Alt+G, can be extended by AI developers through community-created plugins, such as Spotify and Google Gemini, which enable new functionalities like hands-free music control and complex conversations, although a short dip in performance may occur when running G-Assist alongside GPU-intensive applications.
To use G-Assist, systems must meet specific requirements, including Windows 10 or 11, a GeForce RTX 30, 40, or 50 Series GPU with at least 12 GB VRAM, a modern Intel or AMD CPU, the GeForce 572.83 driver or later, and approximately 10 GB of disk space, with laptop support planned for a future update.
