Aker Solutions ASA is using a permanently deployed drone to conduct safety inspections of the Edvard Grieg oil platform. It is remotely controlled from a control room in Stavanger, Norway, and inspects the platform’s structural integrity, monitors emissions and leaks, and transmits live footage back to the control room. The data is then analyzed by artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms.
