A high school in Bergen County closed for the day on Thursday due to smoke in the cafeteria kitchen, local officials said. Firefighters were called to Pascack Valley High School at about 4:55 a.m., and found smoke pouring from a refrigerator in the kitchen that spread into duct work above, the Hillsdale Fire Department said.
