The Visayas Grid was placed on yellow alert on Tuesday afternoon after a power plant was forced offline, adding to previously outaged facilities and others operating at reduced capacity, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.
On January 20, 2026 at 5:00 PM, it was announced that the Visayas power grid was on Yellow Alert from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. At that time, the available power in the Visayas was 2,403 megawatts (MW), while the peak demand reached 2,284 MW.
