According to preliminary data from the Electoral Commission of Canada, more than two million Canadians voted on Friday, the first day of early voting, a 36% increase from the same day in the 2021 parliamentary election. Polls show the Liberals with about 44% of the vote, and the Conservatives with 38%. In March, Canada's new Prime Minister, Liberal Mark Carney, announced that he was calling a snap election.
