Hörnum (dpa/lno) – "Muschelfrieden 2.0" – shellfish fishermen, state government and conservation associations have signed a new agreement on shellfish fishing in the Wadden Sea National Park. Ten years after the so-called "Muschelfrieden", this had become necessary, because many new reefs have been discovered during extensive mapping of the national park, which are among the particularly strictly protected habitat types.
The 2025 bivalve mollusc season started on Thursday. A renewed agreement was signed in Hörnum, which provides planning security to the mussel fishermen on Sylt by 2043.
