Navarro’s Wimbledon Run Ends with 4th Round Loss to Mirra Andreeva
WIMBLEDON, JUL 7 – At 18, Mirra Andreeva is the only teenager among 11 at Wimbledon to reach the quarterfinals, becoming the youngest since 2007, officials said.
- Mirra Andreeva, an 18-year-old Russian, won her fourth-round match against 10th-seeded Emma Navarro at Wimbledon on July 7, 2025, in London.
- Andreeva reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals as the youngest woman in 18 years, a milestone last achieved by Nicole Vaidisova in 2007 at the grass-court Grand Slam.
- Andreeva won the match 6-2, 6-3 while staying focused by avoiding looking at the Royal Box where Roger Federer and his wife Mirka watched, and she expressed surprise at her victory.
- In an on-court interview, Andreeva shared that she kept reminding herself she was trailing rather than leading, and eventually, she lost track of the exact score.
- Andreeva's next opponent will be Belinda Bencic, who has advanced to her debut Wimbledon quarterfinal after returning to the tournament following her maternity leave earlier this year, having welcomed her daughter Bella in April 2024.
