MUNCIE, Ind. — The city of Muncie has temporarily closed the Prairie Creek Reservoir Beach due to elevated algae levels. The city reports that there are high levels of microcystins, which is a toxin produced by blue-green algae. Microcystins can cause skin rashes, liver damage, and more severe illnesses if ingested or inhaled in high concentrations, according to the City of Muncie officials.
