Multiple people dead in 'devastating blast' at explosives manufacturer in Tennessee: Sheriff

  • At about 7:45 a.m. Friday, a blast tore through Accurate Energetic Systems, LLC near Bucksnort, Tennessee, destroying a building with 19 people missing and feared dead.

  • Several people were taken to hospitals as agencies worked to contain the site; the Tennessee Department of Transportation closed State Route 230, and the scene was under control Friday afternoon, Grey Collier said.
  • With the cause unknown, federal and state investigators including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Department of Homeland Security have joined the probe, which could take days.
