A demanding search and rescue operation took place in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps yesterday.
On Sunday afternoon, mountain rescuers and police found two dead mountaineers, aged 40 and 27, who had been reported missing by their relatives on the glacier below Skuta at an altitude of around 2,000 meters. Both were experienced mountaineers, but they had an accident on a demanding mountaineering route where there was no belay.
The findings so far indicate that both of them, who were otherwise experienced mountaineers, fell from a great height on the ridge pass between Koroška Rinka and Skuta.
