Men stole £12k of Ann Summers lingerie and sex toys
Police recovered the stolen goods within minutes, and Jason Kamal was also linked to a separate burglary involving about £13,000 in electronics.
On Thursday, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced Jason Kamal to three years in prison for both burglaries, while Ashley Hillsley received a community order for the Ann Summers break-in.
Officers arrived within minutes of a 4.32am call on August 14 after the pair smashed a window to enter the Ann Summers store in Long Row. Police recovered £12,059 worth of lingerie and sex toys from Hillsley's car boot.
Kamal was also sentenced for a July 28 burglary at Professional Mobile in Arnold. Police linked him to the crime after finding his DNA on a vape left at the scene and discovering he possessed a stolen mobile phone from the store.
Chief Inspector Kylie Davies of Nottinghamshire Police said the men were "not mastermind criminals" who had "no chance whatsoever of getting away." She added that "business crime is not a victimless crime."
Hillsley claimed he was "bullied into the burglary" and acted as a lookout, hoping to stop being "a nobody." Combined theft totaled £12,000 from Ann Summers and about £13,000 in electronics from the Arnold store.
