Man, 80s, dies after being struck by car in Co Galway
The man was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a car on the N83; Gardaí are investigating and seeking witnesses with dash-cam footage.
- On Friday night, a man in his 80s died after being struck by a car on the N83 at Peake on the Tuam Road in Loughgeorge, Co Galway just after 11.30pm.
 - The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital for assessment, and authorities say his injuries are not described as life-threatening.
 - Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Galway, with The Coroner notified to arrange a post-mortem.
 - The road was closed for a technical examination with diversions in place while Garda forensic collision investigators conducted a scene examination on Saturday morning.
 - Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, especially road users with camera or dash‑cam footage, to contact Galway Garda Station on 538 000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
