Lifeguards from De Panne rescued three children, around 12 years old, who were on a single stand-up paddleboard. The children had drifted 1 kilometer out to sea. "They weren't wearing life jackets and lost their paddles. This could have ended much worse," said chief lifeguard Vincent Geerardyn. The police took the three children home.
