It is appalling that Honolulu City Council members Esther Kiaaina, Scott Nishimoto, Val Okimoto, Augie Tulba, Andria Tupola and Tommy Waters voted to increase bus fares. This decision is a blatant betrayal of the working-class residents who keep this island running. By raising the cost of basic mobility, the Council has shown a shameless lack of care for the very people who struggle most with Honolulu’s astronomical cost of living.
