On the 30th, lawyer Haruo Kitamura announced in a video on his YouTube channel that he would run for the proportional representation seat in the House of Councillors election (July 3rd announcement, July 20th voting) as a member of the Japan Conservative Party. "It was a sudden decision. I thought that Japan would fall apart if things continued as they were. That's the biggest reason."
