Ultraconservative Sanae Takaichi will almost certainly become Japan’s first female prime minister after the center-right opposition party, Japan’s Innovation Party known as Ishin, said she was willing to back her candidacy. “I told Takaichi we should move forward together,” Ishin’s leader and governor of Osaka, Hirofumi Yoshimura, in the western city of Japan, told reporters on Monday.
