- Polling for the four vacant Rajya Sabha seats began on Friday at the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly complex, with the National Conference winning three seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party securing one.
- The seats were vacant because four Rajya Sabha terms ended in February 2021, including those of PDP MPs Mir Mohammad Fayaz and Nazir Ahmed Laway, BJP MP Shamsher Singh, and former Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad.
- Three rounds of polling were held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., after which Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan and Sajad Kichloo polled 58 and 57 votes respectively, securing wins for the National Conference.
- The BJP pulled off an unexpected win when Sat Sharma secured the fourth seat with 32 votes despite having 28 legislators, defeating Imran Nabi Dar who polled 22 votes, while opponents accused the BJP of `horse trading`.
- Unusual votes included Mehraj Malik, Aam Aadmi Party MLA voting from jail, Sajad Lone abstaining, and the NC, with 41 legislators, backed by Congress's six members.

J-K: NC wins three Rajya Sabha seats, BJP victorious in one
The National Conference secured three Rajya Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The opposition BJP claimed one seat. Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan and Sajad Kichloo won for the NC. G S Oberoi, also known as Shammi Oberoi, secured the third seat for the party. Sat Sharma of the BJP won the fourth seat.
