A Palestinian woman and a young girl were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza, officials say
The strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families and wounded 17 others, according to Palestinian health officials.
An Israeli airstrike on Monday killed two people, including six-year-old Mennatallah Abu Libda, and wounded 17 others in a tent camp in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian health officials said.
President Donald Trump brokered an October ceasefire that has failed to halt Israeli strikes, with roughly 900 Palestinians killed since the truce took effect as Israel and Hamas remain deadlocked over implementing the agreement's second phase.
Medics identified the victims as six-year-old Mennatallah Abu Libda and 31-year-old Hanan Mahmoud from the displaced families' encampment; Israel says its post-ceasefire strikes aim at preventing attacks or stopping people from approaching its armistice line with Hamas.
Seventeen people, including children, sustained injuries in the strike carried out by two helicopters, while the Israeli military did not immediately comment on the airstrike.
The ceasefire remains fragile as negotiations over phase-two implementation stall, with approximately 900 Palestinian deaths reported against four Israeli soldiers killed by militants during the same period, while Hamas does not disclose fighter casualties.
