ISRAEL, JUL 18 – Israel confirmed the deaths of three Hamas operatives linked to the October 7 attack that involved 2,200 rockets and incursions, escalating ongoing conflict between the groups.
- On Friday, the Israel Defense Forces killed three senior Hamas operatives, the military said, in targeted strikes in the Gaza Strip.
- On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched 2,200 rockets and stormed the Gaza border wall with 3,000 special forces, crossing into Israel by land, air, and sea.
- Among those killed were Barhoum Shahin, head of Hamas' General Security Apparatus, and Asham Tzartzur, who led the Government Emergency Committee, while Faraj al-'Aoul, head of Hamas' legal bureau, was also killed.
- Ongoing operations aim to dismantle remaining Hamas capabilities as part of Operation Gideon's Chariots, aiming to secure the release of 50 captives.
- Later this year, the IDF confirmed the elimination of Hasan Mahmoud Muhammad Mar'i, commander of the Central Jabalia Company, and Muhammad Zaki Shamadeh Hamad, deputy commander of the Beit Hanoun Battalion.
